Rivka Friedman, PT, MS, DPT, is a physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor rehabilitation, pelvic pain, and pregnancy and postpartum care. She has helped many women suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder and bowel problems, prolapse, pelvic pain, and pregnancy and postpartum related orthopedic issues such as sciatica, pubic symphysis dysfunction, diastasis recti and more. She works side-by-side with our physicians to integrate medical and surgical treatments with pelvic muscular therapy. We believe that this integrative approach to treating patients greatly benefits women with pelvic floor dysfunction.

Education and Experience

Dr. Friedman is an alumna of SUNY Downstate’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in New York, graduating with honors in 2008. She has extensive orthopedic manual therapy training and experience, having treated patients for conditions such as back, neck, shoulder, hip and knee pain and post-operative care from the onset of her career. Once she had a solid foundation in orthopedic manual therapy, she went on to pursue her women’s health training. She completed numerous courses in pelvic floor and obstetric physical therapy with the American Physical Therapy Association Section on Women’s Health and the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, in addition to training and working with a renowned women’s health physical therapist in Manhattan. She is skilled in myofascial release, visceral manipulation, scar mobilization, neural mobilization, joint mobilization, alignment/ mobility assessment and correction, and biofeedback among other techniques. Passionate about her profession, Dr. Friedman lectures in the community to promote awareness about the various women’s health issues that she addresses. She is frequently sought out by patients and professionals alike for her expert knowledge and compassionate care.
